Frequently Asked Questions

When does Open Beta launch?

The current Open Beta release date and live countdown are always available on the homepage.

If the release date ever changes, the website and Discord announcements will always reflect the latest information.

Where can I create an account?

You can register your Project Legacy account on the website by clicking the Register Account button on the homepage or by visiting the Register page.

Registration is available before Open Beta so you'll be ready to play on launch day.

Is the server seasonal?

No.

Project Legacy is designed as a long-term Vanilla server, not a seasonal or reset-based project.

Will Open Beta characters be wiped before release?

No.

The intention is for your Open Beta characters to carry over into the full release.

The only circumstance in which a wipe would occur is if an unforeseen economy-breaking or game-breaking issue makes it absolutely necessary. We do not expect this to happen, but preserving the long-term health of the server will always come first.

Can I transfer characters from another server?

No.

Everyone starts fresh on Project Legacy.

Can Horde and Alliance play together?

Yes.

Project Legacy supports cross-faction grouping, guilds, raids, trading, and communication.

Are there custom classes?

No.

Project Legacy keeps the original nine Vanilla classes. Some specializations have been reworked and improved, but there are no new classes.

Will every specialization be viable?

That's one of our primary goals.

While we want to preserve the spirit of Vanilla, we're making targeted class improvements so more specializations are enjoyable and viable without losing their original identity.

What version of World of Warcraft is this?

Project Legacy is built on the original World of Warcraft 1.12 client with carefully designed quality-of-life improvements, class updates, and new content that stay true to the Vanilla experience.

Can I use addons?

Yes.

Standard Vanilla (1.12) addons are fully supported.

Is there a cash shop?

No.

Project Legacy will never sell gear, levels, boosts, power, or any gameplay advantages.

If you would like to support the server and help cover hosting costs, you can do so through our Donate page.

Why does it say I have parental controls enabled when I try to log in?

This is normal until Open Beta begins.

The 1.12 client displays this message when the realm is unavailable. Once Open Beta launches, you will be able to log in normally using your Project Legacy account.

Why should I play Project Legacy?

Project Legacy is built for players looking for a long-term Vanilla home rather than another seasonal server.

Our goal is to preserve everything that made Vanilla special while expanding it with carefully designed class improvements, new quests, new raids, quality-of-life features, and long-term progression, all while remaining faithful to the original World of Warcraft experience.
